Day 1: Fez → Erg Chebbi Dunes (Merzouga)
Your journey begins with a drive from Fez through the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains.
The first stop is Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” thanks to its alpine-style architecture and cool climate. Continue to Azrou, known for its cedar forests and Barbary macaques.
The road then leads you through the stunning Ziz Valley, famous for its palm groves and panoramic desert views, before arriving in Merzouga in the afternoon.
If time allows, you may enjoy an optional quad biking experience to admire the sunset over the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi.
Day 2: Explore the Sahara Desert
Wake up early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the dunes of Erg Chebbi. After breakfast, visit Khamlia village to enjoy traditional Gnawa music performed by the local community.
You will then have several options for the rest of the day: visit Rissani to taste the local specialty Medfouna, take a 4×4 excursion to explore volcanic rocks and fossil areas, or meet a nomadic family to learn about their traditional desert lifestyle.
For a more relaxing experience, you may simply stay at your desert camp and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Day 3: Merzouga → Ouarzazate (via Todra Gorge & Dades Valley)
After breakfast, depart from Merzouga and head toward Tinghir, a town surrounded by palm groves and impressive mountain scenery.
Stop at the spectacular Todra Gorge, where towering canyon walls create a breathtaking natural setting. Continue through the scenic Dades Valley, then pass by Kalaat M’Gouna, known for its rose fields, and Skoura, a beautiful oasis filled with palm groves and historic kasbahs.
By evening, arrive in Ouarzazate or Boumalne Dades for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Ouarzazate → Ait Benhaddou → Marrakech
After breakfast, explore Ouarzazate, including the famous Taourirt Kasbah and the film studios, where many international movies were produced.
Continue to Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its impressive mud-brick architecture and rich history.
After the visit, cross the High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass, enjoying breathtaking views along the way before arriving in Marrakech, where you will be dropped off at your preferred location.
